About Thermo-Simple

What is Thermo-Simple?

A standalone case temperature light. It has its own sensor and display at the case, and a colored light anyone can read with no training. Its one job is saving the product.

What do the colors mean?

BGA models: solid blue is frozen at temp, solid green is fresh at temp, solid purple is a normal defrost, flashing amber means above normal for more than 60 minutes. GAR models: green is normal, flashing amber is in Alarm 1 to 2 hours, flashing red is in Alarm more than 2 hours.

Which model should I get?

Thermo-Simple 1 for a slim bar on the case front. Thermo-Simple 2 for a round display with the color chart around it. TS-X for under-counter appliances. BGA or GAR for the colors your team prefers. Not sure? Ask us.

Does it work in walk-ins?

There's a Walk-in version of Thermo-Simple 2 BGA. Tell us it's a walk-in when you order. [Troy to confirm guidance for other models.]

What is TS-X?

The Thermo-Simple for under-counter appliances. Contact us for details.

How do I get it set up for my case?

Tell us the case type when you order (frozen, fresh, walk-in or dual temp). Setup and adjustment steps are in the user manual, available to customers.

Where do I get a user manual?

User manuals are available to customers. Email orders@refrigerationinnovation.com with your model.

Security

Can Thermo-Simple be hacked?

No. The Thermo-Simple unit itself can't be hacked, and that goes for every model. It doesn't block or stop attacks on your controls. It runs totally on its own. Wireless is optional, and the LoRa model only sends, never receives.

Does Thermo-Simple stop hackers?

No, and we won't claim it does. It doesn't block or stop attacks on your store's controls. It makes sure a hijacked or failed controller can't hide a warm case from your team. For prevention, follow the CISA and FBI steps on our ALL NORMAL page.

What happens if my controls go down?

Thermo-Simple keeps working. It still shows the real temperature at the case even if the controls go down.

Does it connect to my controller or my network?

It doesn't need to. It runs totally on its own, and wireless is optional. [Troy: confirm whether any model can wire into a controller input.]

Does it replace my refrigeration controls or monitoring?

No. It works alongside them. Your controls run the store. Thermo-Simple watches the case.

Power

What are my options on Thermo-Simple power supplies?

Thermo-Simple products have a variety of power supply choices, set up to give you the most convenient way to route power to devices in prominent locations. Most people pick Node power (one unit, its own supply) or Spine power (several units on one supply).

Is there a power supply component supporting multiple Thermo-Simple devices?

Yes. Thermo-Simple devices in a single location can be powered from a single 120V adaptor using a multi-tap supply harness.

What's the difference between a Node kit and a Spine kit?

A Node kit powers one Thermo-Simple with its own supply. A Spine kit links several Thermo-Simples on one power supply using spine cable and ST-3 taps; the power supply is sold separately.

Which power supply do I need?

Node Power Supply (PS-N-1) for a single unit on a Node harness. Spine Power Supply (PS-S) for a spine, with an outlet plug or direct wire.

Replacement parts

Where do I find replacement parts?

In Replacement Parts, at the top of every page. Search by part name or code.

How do I know which part I have?

Check the code on the unit or its label against the codes in Replacement Parts. Still not sure? Email a photo to orders@refrigerationinnovation.com.

My display failed. Do I need a whole kit?

Usually not. Replacement displays are sold on their own, with or without a mounting plate or cup.

Which sensor length should I order?

The one that reaches from where the display mounts to where the product sits, with a little slack. Sensors come in 6, 13, 25 and 40 ft.

I have an older stainless steel TS2 cup. Does the Spinal Tap 3 fit?

No. Older stainless steel TS2 cup devices need the ST-2. Contact us. [Troy: ST-2 is not on the site; confirm availability.]

Do you sell the color chart labels?

Yes. Thermo-Simple 2 Color Chart Labels (BGA-CC), 3 per sheet.
