About
Built by a refrigeration guy, for the people on the floor.
Troy's story
I got into refrigeration and HVAC in 1994. I've spent a lot of nights in the back of stores, and the thing I kept seeing was simple: the people standing in front of the case had no idea what the case was doing. Only a few trained people could read it.
I started Refrigeration Innovation in 2004 to fix that. Thermo-Simple was the answer: a light at the case that turns a refrigeration problem into a color anybody can read.
The problem has a new twist now. Controls are on networks, and they can be hacked. The light's job didn't change. It just matters more.
What we believe
- Simple beats complicated on the sales floor.
- The people at the case should see the truth at the case.
- Say what it does and what it doesn't. Thermo-Simple saves product. It doesn't stop hackers, and we'll never tell you it does.
Our mission
Refrigeration Innovation is on a mission to help reduce loss from poor environmental measurement, inaccurate sensors and unreliable monitoring systems. We stand right behind you to make sure you get the right equipment, that it's set up correctly and that it runs the way it should.
The people at the case saw it first.

"When I first saw the RI products I was really surprised and impressed! Something so simple, so easy to hook up, and with such an obvious visual alarm indicator is a winner when it comes to saving grocers and restaurant managers from product loss,"
"The devices were so clearly displaying a fault condition that store personnel and even customers were reporting the problem. [...] we were able to save the stock from a complete meltdown!"
Ray Fontanilla, owner of A&I Refrigeration in Hawaii
"We have been using the Thermosimple gauges in our Pet Food Express stores for about a year.
